Macy’s to Build 1.3M SF Fulfillment Center Near Tulsa

Macy’s, Inc. has announced that it will build a major new direct-to-consumer fulfillment center near Owasso in Tulsa County, Oklahoma to support continued sales growth. The company is expected to invest more than $170 million in the facility, including the latest technology in material handling equipment and warehouse management systems.

El Paso County Approves $400 Million in Road Construction

WEST TX - El Paso County Commissioners have approved nearly $400 million for a total of 16 road projects designed to connect El Paso, Socorro, Horizon and Clint and relieve traffic congestion.

CPS Energy to Issue RFP for New Headquarters

SOUTH TX - CPS Energy officials informed employees on Friday that the utility plans to issue their request for proposals early next year to relocate its headquarters. The company is also considering selling its 10-story main office along with the nearby eight-story Navarro building and attached garage. Selling or trading the land would require the approval of CPS' board of trustees.

Cook Children’s Medical Center Planning $349M Expansion

Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth is growing again. Just last year, the medical center expanded by 500,000 square feet; now CCMC is planning to add a six-story, 314,000 square foot tower to its campus on the south side of the Medical District. A 16,560-square-foot, two-story utility plant will be built adjacent to the patient tower, along with an urgent-care center at Rosedale Street and Sixth Avenue.

Karbach Brewing Co. Announces $15M Expansion in Houston

EAST TX - Yet another fast-growing Texas craft brewery has announced plans to expand in 2014. This one is in Houston, and Karbach Brewing Co. says that it will build a new brewery that will initially triple the company’s beer-making capacity, with an eye toward producing 200,000 barrels annually in the future.

Austin Technology Incubator to Conduct Wet-Laboratory Incubator Study

CENTRAL TX - The Austin Technology Incubator (ATI), a part of the IC2 Institute at The University of Texas at Austin, has been awarded an Economic Development Administration grant to develop a public-private partnership financing strategy to build a wet laboratory incubator in Austin.  Over the weekend, ATI announced a partnership with the multinational infrastructure team of Balfour Beatty/Estrada Hinojosa to assist in the effort.

NORTH TX - The Woodmont Company recently broke ground on Park Village, a 190,000-square-foot specialty retail center located on 22 acres in the affluent Dallas/Fort Worth suburb of Southlake.  The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2014.
